Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone. As I’m typing this email, I’m eating Thanksgiving Leftover Soup that I made this morning. As much as I love the holidays and enjoying good food with family and friends, I also know that this time of the year can set people back on their health and fitness journey and goals.
It doesn’t matter if you slipped up this weekend and ate your weight in turkey and pie, the thing that matters is that you get back on schedule with eating healthy and working out. As you are finishing up leftovers and now that holiday parties and potlucks will begin to fill up your calendar, here are few tips to help you keep the pounds off.
1. Drink Lots of Water – You already know that drinking water is a great way to lose weight, but also during this time most of the foods are packed with sodium and there are more festivities to indulge in alcoholic beverages, drinking water will help to keep you feeling full, flush out toxins, and help to keep you feeling energized.
2. Tickle Your Tastebuds with a Nibble – Instead of piling on the food, get a small helping of everything. This way you won’t feel like you missed anything on the serving table, but you also won’t feel stuffed and miserable after you eat.
3. Walk It Off – After a big dinner, take a walk outside. Getting some activity and fresh air post a big meal, can help with digestion and is a better alternative than sitting on the couch and taking a post dinner nap.
4. Enjoy Yourself – Don’t let the fact that you are working on getting fit and healthy, keep you from enjoying yourself over the holidays. Just remember everything in moderation and if you do slip up, tomorrow is a brand new day to get back on it.
