Track Your Progress with a Fitness/Health Journal

What gets measured, gets done.  If you are having problems staying committed to your workouts or you healthy eating, try keeping a health and fitness journal.  Simply buy a small notebook and begin to write down everything that you eat during the day and each day review and identify the good choices you made and the bad choices that you made. Each day ask yourself, did you help to support your health and fitness goals or did you sabotage your goals, when looking at your journal.  This can also work for your workouts, each day write down the workout, how many minutes you worked out and even write down your measurements at the end of each week.  Each week review your workouts and your meals and then check out your weekly measurements or weight.   This will help you to track your progress that you are making. If you aren’t seeing the results you are looking for, go back into your journal to see if you can make improvements with your diet or your workouts.

I use the app, MyFitnessPal, to track my food, workouts, and water intake. What I love about this app is that it has a social sharing component where my friends on MyFItnessPal can see what I’ve been doing, and motivate me when I don’t log in.  It’s also pretty cool, because you can set goals that you want to achieve it will help you identify how many calories you need to consume per day to reach and maintain your goal.
